Resistance to Change is yet another major reason why the ordinary person does not yet believe in a technological Singularity. Ever try to implement a major change at work? I have. Yes, 46 years in Information Technology has made me realize that we are all resistant to change at some level. That includes me. Also, some retired friends have commented to me that they are very willing to let future generations be the ones to deal with future changes. They haven’t got enough time left to think about it plus they have their own life interests, travel plans, etc…

Religious Fundamentalism is yet another reason. If while growing up, you’ve been taught to believe in a strict set of religious fundamental beliefs and are still commited to that religion and are socially involved with family and friends who are committed to that way of thinking, it’s not easy to think or talk outside the box.
